Moving into the 2022 school year, Bearden High School decided to transition to an academy style class schedule, which placed every student into 1 of 4 categories: The Freshman Academy, The Business, Leadership, & Communications (BLC) Academy, The Health, Human Science, & Services (H2S2) Academy, and The Stem & The Arts (Stem&A) Academy. I was requested by the school to create the marks for these upcoming sectors. This project posed it's difficulties: lengthy names, inclusivity concerns, and an evolving educational system made this project quite non-linear. Through many meetings and presentations with the BHS faculty, however, I developed a design that represented the students as much as it did the school. The typography was decided by the school, so I aimed to create icons that paired well with those line weights. I decided to create a responsive logo set due to the extremely large number of uses these marks would fulfill. They were displayed on diplomas, t-shirts, a vinyl mural in the main lobby, websites, and more. Following the academies' implementation, the designs received high praise both at the school and county levels, making this project extra rewarding.
