As a design employee of the Knoxville Ice Bears, I had the honor of creating the uniforms for one of their promotional themed game nights: Knights Night. Before adopting their current brand, the Ice Bears were known as the Knoxville Knights — a gritty, hard-hitting team from the sixties. Their uniforms were minimalist, featuring a deep red color, white stripes, and a distinctive blackletter "K". Given complete creative freedom, my task was to modernize these iconic uniforms for the Ice Bears. Inspired by the medieval aesthetic of the original "K", I infused this theme throughout the entire uniform design. I created two logo variations: a prominent mark for the jersey and a slightly modified vintage mark for other uses. I also developed a unique chainmail pattern. Ultimately, these jerseys weren't just worn for a single game, but were showcased in four games throughout the season. As a lifelong hockey player, fan and jersey lover since I was young, seeing professional athletes wearing something I created was an incredibly surreal experience. The jerseys were made available for sale on their debut game day, and it was immensely gratifying to see fans wearing them with pride. This project meant more to me than just another design task, and I valued every step of this process.
