When envisioning my own logo, I knew I wanted a mark that felt modern, polished, and detailed. The design stemmed from the typeface Apotek. I used Apotek in a freelance job years ago, and I enjoyed it so much I kept the typeface around, assuming it would come in handy at some point. Its straightforward elegance and sharp, boxy details resonated perfectly with the tone I wanted to convey as a designer. I felt a reference to my love of sports logos was appropriate, so I decided to explore the shadow effect seen on the text of many modern sports marks. The three starts on top of my last name, which I use as a small icon, are displayed as a nod to my design education and life in Tennessee. While tweaking their positioning slightly, 2 of these stars align precisely with those on the Tennessee state flag. The swashes that fill the body of my mark are meant to convey precision and detail, and the black and white color scheme has been a favorite look of mine for quite some time. I chose Exo Normal as my type pairing, which I feel does a good job of relating to the thicker boxiness of the sans serif Apotek while being slightly more toned down for legibility. I also chose a bright bluish-purple for my accent color, to boldly stand out against the greyscale color palette.
